Music exists in all cultures, no matter our differences everyone seems to love some type of music. So I'm extending an open invitation for all that choose to post any music that's influenced you, moved you, or just something you love. Let's all sing and dance.

Here's a Canadian group "Mother Mother" with a very emotional performance.

Here's another Canadian Mo Kenney from Nova Scotia, discovered her at a little folk festival and was absolutely blown away.

Hi Geoff,

Man we could be here for a long time posting amazing music! Smile

When I wake up I like to put on something beautiful and moving to start the day ( if I remember)

This is one of my go to albums lately. I love ballads and John Coltrane was a really passionate, thoughtful and spiritual man. These old standards are already such beautiful songs and Coltrane really makes them speak. I really love the song Nancy With A Laughing Face. Absolutely kills me every time I hear it.

Totally. I just watched the whole Queen live at Wembley stadium just the other day after not listening to them for a long while. Freddie Mercury had so much energy...man, amazing musician and live show. Before the days of computer assistance...That man was singing his ass off and running around the stage like it was Broadway! You don't really see that much anymore with the aid of backing tracks or just all out lip syncing when it comes to shows of that size.

Music music music... What I love about being a musician was reflected last night night yet again. Show up at this really wealthy estate (The owner is throwing a meet the neighbors party) Really elaborate, everyone was really REALLY friendly, the Trio sounded amazing, people we're loving and commenting on how much they appreciated the music and level of talent they we're hearing in they're neighbors back yard. Sipping $300 a bottle cognac, fine wines, amazing food, playing improvised music on a beautiful summers night.

Nice moment, the owner (middle eastern guy from Dubai) comes over and thanks us, tips us all and pays really well and then calls his kids over, they thanked us. And in a nice moment of abundance and appreciation he pats his son on the head as if to say thanks for coming and saying hi and as the kid leaves to run off and play with his friends, that Dad says " hey...I love you" and the kid says I love you too Dad, in front of a ton of people, was precious.

Fun times...peoples energy and the energy in the moment make the music come alive and then people come alive and it's like anything is possible, music is that powerful and people equally so.

What a great evening!!!! Yup - music does it for me, every time and all the time.

Queen is one of my all time favourites. Went to see We Will Rock You twice when it was in Toronto. Adam Lambert is really doing an incredible job of fronting them now. Didn't think anyone could replace Freddie, but he's giving it a really good run.

Just came back and as I was walking, I was listening to this. Man, could she groove!!!! And I love dancing down the street Wink

Summertime - Janis Joplin

I'm not sure we realized back then just how talented Janis Joplin was!!

France Gall

http://youtu.be/pDqkAkWLlbw

Mooi liedje van songvestival, de schutterij doet het slagwerk, niet te zachtjes Wink

http://youtu.be/7cv9NIzGmSI

geschreven door Serge Gainsbourg

Sylvie Simmons, in her biography of Gainsbourg, wrote that on the surface, the song appears to be nothing but catchy Eurovision fodder, but "closer examination revealed perspicacious lyrics about the ironies and incongruities inherent in baby pop. That the songs young people turn to for help in their first attempts at discovering what life and love are about are sung by people too young and inexperienced themselves to be of much assistance, and condemned by their celebrity to be unlikely to soon find out."[11] At a young age, France Gall was too na´ve to understand the second meaning of the lyrics. But later on she felt she was manipulated and used by Gainsbourg throughout this period, most notably after the song "Les Sucettes".

Today France Gall tries to not discuss the Gainsbourg period in public and refuses to perform her winning song.

Any song by Francis Cabrel is great...

That one is addressed to the biological mother of the young Vietnamese girl he adopted in 2004.

He always performs it "in the dark", because he always gets really emotional about it...

As is often the case with French songs, the lyrics are more important than the music Wink
